NAT was designed for small office/home office networks and small businesses. Because it is unlikely that such entities have or could afford expert help in creating an Internet access solution, the goal is to make NAT configuration as simple as possible. In order to meet this goal of simplicity, NAT enables users to assign IP addressing information to DHCP client computers without have to set up a DHCP server and manually configure scopes. The NAT server includes a simplified version of DHCP that is very easy to configure.
NAT can also act as a DNS proxy. Because it is unlikely that the small office network proprietor will have the sophistication to set up a DNS server, the NAT server can be easily configured to resolve DNS name resolution requests on the behalf of NAT clients. As the following MouseOver illustrates, these two NAT server options eliminate the need for additional Windows 10-based servers to provide the same function.

If you enable the automatic IP-addressing feature, ensure that DHCP servers do not provide IP configuration for the private network because the DHCP servers and the NAT server would both attempt to configure the computers.
