NAT server options
The figure above consists of a 1)Private Network 2) Automatic Addressing 3) Name Resolution
Automatic IP address assignment feature in NAT supplies IP configuration to any DHCP client on the private network. Include this feature in your solution when the 1) Client computers on the private network use DHCP for IP configuration 2) Private network consists of a single, nonrouted subnet
Private Network: 1) You must configure the NAT client computers on the private network so that they automatically obtain their Transmission Control Protocol/ (IP) Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) configuration. 2) When the computers on the private network are started, the NAT server configures the TCP/IP options of the computers
The following table illustrates the TCP/IP options and associated TCP/IP settings that are configured on the DHCP client computers.
Private Network: You can also use (APIPA) Automatic Private IP addressing in Windows to automatically configure computers on the private network.
Name Resolution:
The DNS name resolution feature of NAT forwards the DNS name resolution requests from clients on the private network to DNS servers across the internet. Include this feature in your solution when: 1) Other private network servers do not provide DNS name resolution
2) The private network consits of a single, nonrouted subnet
